This plant’s claim to fame is that it is considered to be a ‘yellow’ Gansu Mudan. As you can see from the photos, yellow is conspicuous by its absence. However, as the flowers begin to open the outer petals are not a pure white or even white tinged pink, in fact they are a slightly off-white colour. I would not call it yellow. This is probably most noticeable in the top right hand image.The central flares turn more red as the flower ages.
