Souvenir de Maxime Cornu
A Tree peony by Lous Henry in 1907. A very famous variety that caused a sensation in the USA when coloured images of it were first seen. Widely available, often as a Japanese plant (propagated in China) named Kinkaku. It is a vigorous grower with flowers of 15cm diameter. However, its chief failing is its flower habit - being heavy, they hang down and can only be seen if the viewer is looking up at the plant. My photographs are taken with the branch propped up by a green plastic stake. Plant Source: Kelways
